A new white variety of wine grapevine with high disease resistance. It is a mutation of "Frontenac gris" that appeared independently among several growers in Minnesota and Canada. In 2012, it was introduced to the grower market under the name "Frontenac blanc". The first wines from this variety show a high quality potential and are clearly different from the original "Frontenac gris".

Parental varieties: Vitis riparia 89 x Landot 4511
Vegetation period: medium-early to early
Growth: strong, enters fruiting early
Clusters: medium-sized, medium-dense, can hang on the bushes for a long time
Berries: round, small
Berry color: yellow
Sugar content: high
Yield: high, sometimes requires a reduction in yield
Frost resistance: very high, -36 to - 38°С
Resistance to fungal diseases according to international classification:
Very high, can be grown practically without spraying. Even in wet years, no damage to berries by botrytis or cracking of fruits was observed.
Downy mildew: 7 - 9 points
Powdery mildew: 7 - 9 points
Botrytis: practically immune

We have every reason to expect that "Frontenac blanc" will behave, in terms of cultivation, as smoothly as "Frontenac" or "Frontenac gris". This will allow for easy care with the same growing practices for all three varieties, which we can now include in one family with the name "Frontenac". Have you noticed the similarity with the development of the European varieties "Pinot, Pinot gris and Pinot blanc"?
